Dr. Sands is trained in all areas of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Sands has particular interest in body contouring after massive weight loss, breast reconstruction (both tissue expander and free tissue transfer), skin cancer resection/reconstruction and aesthetic surgery.
After receiving his medical degree at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, he moved to Houston, Texas. He trained in general surgery at The University of Texas in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. His training carried him through many hospitals including Memorial Herman Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, St. Luke’s Hospital, Methodist Hospital and Texas Heart Hospital. After finishing his training in general surgery, he and his wife felt a need to return to New Orleans to a post Katrina population to provide medical services.
Dr. Sands completed his Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery training at Tulane University here in New Orleans and now shares an office with his father-in-law, Dr. Gustavo A. Colon, a nationally recognized and long time local New Orleans plastic surgeon. Follow Dr. Sands on Google+.
